control system upgrades

Case Studies    SPOTLIGHT Article: Experience and Capabilities of Zeton’s Control Systems Group

Customer: Kayser Technology, Inc. (KTI)

Project: ACE Model R+, ACE Model SD100-2 and ACE Model D100

Project Description:
As a specialist designer-builder of pilot plants serving a worldwide customer base, Zeton has in-house, dedicated control systems groups in both our Burlington and Enschede offices. Zeton’s engineers are familiar with many of the commercially-available controls systems, including Honeywell Experion/HC900, Emerson DeltaV, Allen-Bradley, Eurotherm, Yokogawa Centum/Stardom, Siemens S5/S7/PCS7, ABB, National Instruments Labview, GE Fanuc Proficy HMI/SCADA iFIX and Wonderware InTouch.

Controls system upgrades can greatly increase the value of the pilot plant, raising the quality of the data obtained by the customer, and at the same time extending its useful life.  An example of a successful control system upgrade by Zeton is the ACE Technology® product line from Kayser Technology, Inc. (KTI). Our customer, Dr. John Kayser, had requested the (now obsolete) Azonix control hardware be replaced with a state-of-the-art and supported hardware platform, and Zeton recommended, and subsequently implemented, the Honeywell HC900 Hybrid Controller in combination with Proficy - iFIX software from GE Fanuc.

ACE Products are used worldwide, with customers in Asia, the Middle East, Europe, and North and South America. To date, the KTI-Zeton alliance has delivered over 20 completed units with the new control system configuration, and is on course for 30 delivered systems by the end of 2010.

For more information on the Zeton’s control system upgrade capability, please contact Herman Bottenberg at Zeton in The Netherlands, or David Edwards and Adam Whalley at Zeton in Canada.

"The conversion of ACE products to modern control systems by Zeton's controls and electronics personnel has improved overall system performance."
